On October 3, 2011, the managers of ige headed to Mt. Pleasant to participate with the Light the Night Walk. Light the Night brings together communities to raise much needed funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Donations are invested in to blood cancer research, free educational materials and events,  and local support programs. During the walk participants carry illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. For over three years the Citadel along with Charleston Southern University and the College of Charleston have donated the region's food for this inspirational event.

iron gate events and Community

Recently, ige has begun some exciting ventures. Through them we were led to an organization that's giving back to people's lives, the Best Buddies International. The Best Buddies group reaches out to those who are intellectually or physically disabled. Catering employee, Joshua Breland, is the College of Charleston's Best Buddies event's coordinator. The goal of the group is to have events for the buddies to have monthly activities such as crafts and social gatherings. What truly helps any school affiliated organizations, especially as one as positive as Best Buddies, is donating funds or food for an event. iron gate events happily extended our resources and donated dessert to two events. The Meet and Greet and the Pumpkin Painting were both great and everyone enjoyed themselves. We hope that the College of Charleston's Best Buddies let us participate in the future!
